Newham - East London
The project is an extension to a dwelling in East London. The concept was to create a space that would position the kitchen as the main heart of the home. The connection between the garden and the kitchen was key in allowing the spaces to flow through. The materiality of the space was designed around a Zen theme – using natural stones of a dark and copper palette. Therefore, the curved glass roof light played a great role in allowing light to flood and brighten up the space. Moreover, the clients have a house cat, which as a result led into not having any windows in the space. Thus, the idea of provided ventilation from the top played a key role in allowing natural air to flow without opening the main bi-fold doors.
