Our client was a young family, recently relocated from London seeking a change of lifestyle close to open space and nature. The original house on the site was a post-war bungalow, deteriorating rapidly and unsuitable for the client’s growing family. This was demolished to make way for a new dwelling built over three levels, maximising the sloping site and views across the surrounding landscape. Our brief was to create a light-filled, modern, open yet intimate family home with strong environmental credentials. Due to the proximity of the dwelling to the Green Belt, our intention was to develop a style and material palette that was sensitive to the context with muted colours and varied textures.
