Strathblane, Stirlingshire

This new house adopts a linear barn style relating to the geometry of the former mill building - the oldest and most significant building in the general area.

The main entrance to the house and private terrace access opposite are fully glazed walls with voids above. Between these voids a bridge passes over with a stair rising from the entrance area to access the office and bedrooms. To introduce more light and reduce potential glare we added a roof light over the entrance space. As well as adding roof light here we also added a roof light above the master bedroom which is a big double height space looking out over the mountains beyond.
